Bonnie Goldblatt is the founder and CEO of AML Art Compliance Experts.  

Bonnie’s hands on style guarantees every client receives individualized attention and care. She has decades of experience in the public and private sectors and has ongoing involvement and advocacy with regulators and Congress in developing policy regarding the illicit trade of art.

Starting as a federal agent specializing in international art fraud and money laundering investigations for the U.S. Customs Service and successor agency, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, she later became Managing Director of Compliance at Citibank. 

Bonnie's efforts as a skilled negotiator have led to over $100M in art and cultural property repatriations and prosecutions, including WWI and WWII museum thefts, Holocaust art thefts, and international gallery thefts.

PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Established the Art Fraud Program for the U.S. Customs Service and implemented the Cultural Property, Art, and Antiquities program for the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Collaborated with the Department of State and the Smithsonian Institute to train 8,000 Special Agents on money laundering and terrorist financing in the art market.

  • Designed the art and cultural property curriculum for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).

  • As Managing Director in Compliance for Citibank, developed a global AML compliance program, focusing on high-risk clients to include art, antiquities, and precious metal sectors.

  • As designated Head of External Engagement at Citibank, advised FinCEN and the Department of Treasury on illicit finance in the art market. 

  • Developed the curriculum and teaches an Anti-Money Laundering and Terror Finance course at Fordham Law School.

  • As the founder of AACE, briefed Senators Fetterman and Grassley’s advisors on illicit finance compliance in the art market.

  • Bonnie was the federal agent behind the Portrait of Wally case, which resulted in the largest US art forfeiture settlement; $19M.
